Meet Mike Sansevero...
Mike Sansevero is a resident and stakeholder in Wilton Manors for the past 19 years, 5 years part time and 14 years full time. Formerly a New York resident, Mike has a lifetime of public service and volunteerism that makes him ideally suited for the office of Mayor.
He graduated from Hofstra University with honors, majoring in mathematics with a minor in secondary education. He began his career as an actuary with insurance companies. After obtaining a law degree, Mike was recruited by the most prestigious law firms, where he was a transactional attorney handling mergers, acquistions and securities. After 9/11, Mike evaluated life priorities and decided to move to Wilton Manors to live a more free and open lifestyle with fewer work constraints. He is licensed as a realtor and is active in serving clients in Broward County.
In New York, Mike was elected to his local Board of Education at an early age, winning his seat by large margins. He served two terms as a Board member, including as President of the Board of Education in a school district three times the size of Wilton Manors.
In Wilton Manors, Mike Sansevero served two terms as a member of the Community Affairs Advisory Board, with three years as its Chair. Mike, with the help of his fellow Board members, was able to deliver programs and policies on behalf of the City Commission that enriched the lives of Wilton Manors residents, such as public art funding, car shows and bicycle safety events. Mike spearheaded the drafting of the City's diversity policy when charged by the City Commission to do so.
Mike has been an active member of the Wilton Manors Business Association. He is always striving to help promote our local businesses and seeking ways to help them. In 2019 after a WMBA workshop on business development, Mike noted the lack of public art on our streets, and put together a public art project to locate, fund and display art sculptures around the City, starting with Wilton Drive. You may have seen the orange slices, "Slices of Heaven", and other pieces. This program is known as Sculpture Walk Wilton Manors, and is part of the Art Walk Wilton Manors 501(c)(3) organization.
A regular attendee at City Commission and Board meetings, Mike has voiced his view on a number of important issues facing the residents of Wilton Manors, and is now prepared to act on his views and ideas to bring Wilton Manors forward. It is commonly said, "Life's just better here", but Mike asks, "Why settle for better? Demand awesome!"
